CIS Group Affiliation Application Form

We
encourage the formation of CIS affiliated local iris clubs and groups and
actively support creation of these groups. Get some iris gardening friends
together, name your club and join the CIS. Create your own local iris sales,
shows and other iris events. Have fun!
The CIS encourages affiliated local iris clubs and groups across Canada. The
new CIS Constitution makes it easier than ever to affiliate a group to the
CIS:
These local clubs/societies/regions function as self-organizing stand
alone entities all having a common bond of being affiliated with the CIS
(i.e. their members are/would become CIS members). They create their
own local iris sales, shows and other iris events. Each of these
clubs/societies/regions conduct their own activities, responsible only
to themselves and as successful as their own initiatives.
Scheduled events can be published in the CIS Newsletter and also on the CIS
website. This way the local group receives some extra publicity and perhaps
linking up new people from that local area that may wish to join the group.

Q and A of frequently asked membership
questions
Q: I mailed in my membership and still have not yet received a copy of the
quarterly CIS Newsletter. When will I get one?
A: You will get a newsletter on the next mailing following your membership
activation. If you just missed one it may be a while as the CIS Newsletter
is only published each quarter; four issues per year; dated Winter|Spring|Summer|Autumn. Your membership will
run from that first issue you receive until the term of your CIS membership is
completed. (1 year|3years). The membership form provides an option for
receiving the CIS Newsletter via postal mail or e-mail. Please be sure we
have a current e-mail address if you wish that option. Invalid/rejected e-mail
addresses will be reverted to postal mail until otherwise notified. Likewise if
at any time you wish to change from postal mail to e-mail just let us know.
Contact the CIS Membership Chairman via e-mail
cdn-iris@rogers.com
Q: How do I know the status of my CIS membership?
A: You may inquire anytime with the CIS Membership Chairman. Also your membership
term is shown on the postal mailing label of your CIS newsletter. This will show you your membership term/expiry date. See below for some examples of the
wording that may appear on your label each and every mailing. You will see
something similar to the following;
CIS: Life Member (this example would indicate that you are a life
member with CIS)
CIS: July 2006-July 2009 (this example would indicate that your
current membership is a three year membership started July 2006 and expires
July 2009 )
This label information should help everyone be better informed of
their CIS membership status on a current and regular ongoing basis.
Obviously if you receive the CIS Newsletter via the e-mail option you won't
get this info each time but please feel free to inquire on your CIS
membership term status at any time. Contact the CIS Membership Chairman
via e-mail cdn-iris@rogers.com
Q: My membership is almost expired or expired. When should I renew?
A: Your subscription/membership expires on the date indicated on the mailing
label of the envelope that your newsletter arrived in. Please take a moment
to check if your membership is expired or just about to expire.
Please send your renewal to the CIS Membership Chairman right away so that you
do not miss any of the news of your favorite flower…and we do thank you for
your support of the iris society. Early renewals are appreciated.
Please note that we will no longer continue to mail CIS Newsletters to expired memberships.
